Oh Don't be Coy...the Coys are in Maui!

...Sorry, I just couldn't help myself. I'm a sucker for word play. But I'll let the photos speak for themselves; there's nothing coy about them...except for, well, the Coys.

Ok. I'll stop. Really.

So a little bit about the Coys: John and Annette met about 22 years ago while they were working together. They soon fell for one another and tied the knot. Now, 21 years later, they have raised four wonderful children; one of whom happens to be my husband. John isn't my husband Anthony's biological father, but he might as well be. The running joke in the family is Anthony is the Coy that isn't a Coy. He's been around since Anthony was nine-years-old and was an integral part of his upbringing.

Annette, my mother-in-law, came out to visit in 2010 right after we moved here, but it has taken until this January to get both John and Annette out here as a pair. On their last night here we visited Big Beach and I was able to snap a few shots of them. Just looking at the photos I can hear Annette laugh...and John is just an absolute riot. He was completely unpredictable; he would pick her up, swing her around, and then before I knew it he was shimmying up a tree...I think he's part monkey. Really.

See that wave in the background? A few seconds after this picture itended up soaking him!
And I will leave you all with one last photo...My sweet, sweet husband and his darling mother :)

John and Annette: It was a true pleasure to share Maui with you both. I hope you haven't turned to popsicles back in Michigan; you're always welcome back here. Aloha and ahui ho!

Kevin and Mary are in Maui!

You will all have to excuse my absence. Between the holidays, running back and forth between families and then the beginning of a new semester, a quick weekend trip to Oahu to see Wicked, and my family being in town...I have been busy to say the least!

But I'm back and so excited to see what 2013 has to offer!
-------------------------------------

Last week I met up with Kevin and Mary at Puamana Beach Park in Lahaina (which is quickly becoming one of my favorite places to shoot) for a birthday photo session!

Mary and Kevin are from Washington and had a short seven days to enjoy Maui while they were here. Seven days is not enough time, but the good news is that with no kids in tow, the two of them could finally relax for a bit. And even better, on the day before our shoot it was Mary's birthday!

I loved how relaxed these two were...and willing to climb up on trees, maneuver around rocks, and even sit in the surf (well, that wasn't what I intended, but that rogue wave had another idea)!

It was Kevin's idea to do a shoot for Mary's birthday; how sweet is that?

Safe travels back to Washington you two! I hope your next trip to Maui is a few days longer
